IAN TYSON RETURNS IN CONCERT TO RED DEER

Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi award winner, Ian Tyson, is celebrating 5 decades of performance in 2009 and 2010 with a full schedule of concerts and the release of a children’s book based on his song La Primera. With shows planned from coast to coast in both Canada and the United States, Tyson continues to keep his loyal fans in awe with songs that range from his classics – Four Strong Winds, Someday Soon and Navajo Rug to his newest works which he continues to write with inspired vigor. Throughout 2008, Tyson shot a TV Music/Documentary Special for Canada’s Bravo Chanel which is scheduled to air in January 2010. The show includes a multitude of special guests and friends who have been part of Ian’s long career. At age 76, Tyson maintains a busy touring performance schedule which he combines with the work on his Alberta ranch, which is nestled in the foothills of the Rockies south of Calgary. It's a workload that would exceed that of most people generations his junior.

With the release of “Yellowhead to Yellowstone and other Love Stories” (SPCD 1339) on November 11, 2008 (Canada) and March 25, 2009 (USA), his long-time fans have discovered something else: Ian Tyson has a new voice! It’s his 14th album for the Edmonton based roots music label Stony Plain, and was produced by Nashville’s Harry Stinson, who did 3 CD’s for the label with Corb Lund, and who has worked with a who’s-who in Music City, from George Jones and Marty Stuart to Rodney Crowell and Steve Earle.

As a true musical historian of the old west and a seasoned horseman, Ian Tyson treats his fans to an intimate evening of music and narrative portraits that begin with his story of the first horse to land on American soil and culminate with 50 years and more of his own life experiences.

Ian Tyson will perform at The Memorial Centre Theatre on February 26, 2010 at 7:30 PM.

Opening for Ian will be Red Deer singer/songwriter Donna Durand.
